It is mandatory to attend both days of this course. You cannot attend Day 2 if you have missed Day 1. Please do not book this course if you have already booked / attended one of our other Teaching Skills course (including 'Training the Trainers').

This is primarily practical and therefore the current focus will be around delivering in an on-line environment but the principles of assessment, feedback, planning and teaching will work in any educational context. Participants will leave with increased knowledge, confidence and skills in their delivery of quality medical education.

Aims
  • To provide an opportunity for participants to consider the essential knowledge and skills required to design, conduct, assess and evaluate high quality learning and teaching in medical and clincial contexts
  • To experience the teaching of peers in delivering teaching and learning
  • To understand and practise curriculum based planning
Objectives
  • To provide participants with an analysis of their current practice as educators in clinical settings
  • To provide some theoretical underpinning to learning and teaching to support practice
  • To provide participant with practical plans for how they might go about improving their practice as educators
Learning outcomes
  • Each participant will plan and teach a mirco session and have this analysed in terms of its effectiveness and underlying assumptions
  • Each particpant will gain knowledge about dominant paradigms around learnin, assessment and feedback and understand how they might be applied to their practice
  • Each participant will leave with a detailed practical plan to improve their teaching
