DescriptionWe are very fortunate that Raj Rattan, the new Dental Director of Dental Protection has agreed to come to talk to us on the future of NHS dentistry, the NHS/Private interface and dento legal issues. Raj will cover the potential implications of contract reform on patients and practices and the medico-legal issues encountered in general dental practice. This course will includes law and ethics and complaints handling as recommended by the GDC as part of the requirements for CPD.
Additional information

Raj has been a practice owner for over 30 years and has pilot site experience. He has been associated with Dental Protection for over 20 years, first as a dento-legal adviser then as a senior dento-legal consultant and now Dental Director. Raj has also been strategic associate dean at the London Deanery, clinical policy advisor to Denplan and former adviser to the Department of Health

In 2008, Raj was appointed MBE in the Queen’s New Year’s Honours List for services to dentistry.

Aims

To update attendees on current perspectives in the medico-legal field and discuss the implications of contract reform on patients and practices.

Objectives

By the end of the course, participants will;

1. Have a better understanding of the medico-legal issues in general dental practice

2. Be able to implement effect risk management strategies in everyday practice

3. Understand the potential implications of NHS contract reform
