DescriptionThis webinar has been designed for dentists who aspire to become a Supporting Dentist for an International Dental Graduate. It covers the requirements of the role and the personal, practical, and professional implications of undertaking this responsibility. It will take you through the whole process from application to the IDG completing programme.

Aims
  • To give potential Supporting Dentists an overview of the programme and requirements
  • Talk through the application process for IDG programme.
  • Further understand the requirements of the Supporting Dentist role and the personal, practical, and professional implications of undertaking it.
  • Talk about work-based assessments and why they are important in your role.
Objectives
  • Reflect on their ability and readiness to undertake the role of Supporting Dentist within their current practice, realistically appraising pertinent personal, environmental, and professional opportunities and constraints.
  • Identify further activities that could be undertaken to prepare them to fulfil the role of Supporting Dentist effectively.
Learning outcomes
  • Have a better understanding of the IDG pathway and process.
  • Be fully aware of their role in the process.
  • Be able to carry out Work Based Assessments on the IDG to confirm if they are at required level to work independently as an NHS dentist.
  • Be aware of support they can access to help the IDG develop.
  • Identify local resources which may support their further development into the role of Supporting Dentist
