DescriptionThis course will consider various methods of improving anterior aesthetics, focusing on new direct composite veneers (Componeers) and composite layering techniques. The hands-on part of the course will include practising techniques on special artificial teeth models.

Delegate please note:

Car parking - access to John Lister Post-graduate Centre is via Entrance 4 of Wexham Park Hospital (off Wexham Park Lane).  Once at Entrance 4 take 2nd right signposted Post Graduate Centre into the PGC car park. This is free of charge, however parking spaces are limited and delegates are advised to bring sufficient cash in the event that the PGC carpark is full,  in which case you should use the adjacent pay-on-foot public car park (£10 per day).  Link to map - http://www.johnlister.ac.uk/location/

Aims

The aim of this course is to provide education and practical training in techniques that improve anterior aesthetics for patients.

Objectives
  1. Explain and discuss the causes of tooth discolouration
  2. Identify the forms of tooth discolouration and treatment techniques 
  3. Hands-on practice in preparing and bonding direct veneers or Componeers, and the  complementary procedure of  layering of enamel and dentine shades with the aid of a mock-up build up and silicone index. 
  4. Practise characterisation techniques and age related effects 
Learning outcomes

Following this course, learners should be able to:

  1. Evaluate tooth discolouration of anterior teeth 
  2. Describe techniques available to improve anterior aesthetics with appropriate indications and contraindications
  3. Select composite layering techniques which improve anterior aesthetics
  4. Use new direct composite ready-made Componeers.
