Our speaker will describe the materials, techniques and equipment available to the general dental practitioners to enable participants to undertake root canal therapy on permanent teeth with confidence.

09:30-10:30: Introductory Lecture

10:30-11:00: Refreshment break

11:00-11:30: Demonstration using operative microscope

11:30-13:00: Hands-on on acrylic blocks and on extracted teeth

13:00-14:00: Lunch

14:00-14:30: Demonstration of 3D obturation

14:30-16:00: Obturation hands-on

16:00-16:30: Wash up and discussion

Speaker biography:

Dani Mancuso BDS, MSc, PhD, specialist Endodontist and Prosthodontist

Dani qualified from Sao Paolo State in Brazil in 2002. where she was awarded the prestigious Maillefer Honours and Distinction Endodontic Award. She then enrolled into an extensive postgraduate programme receiving her Masters degree and PhD and became specialist endodontist and prosthodontist in both the countries.

Dani worked as a Clinical Lecturer at Barts and The London Hospital Dental Institute in London,  as an Associate Clinical Teacher at the University of Warwick and is nowadays an invited Professor at the University of Sao Paolo state in Brazil. She also lectures both nationally and internationally and provides postgraduate endodontic courses.

Aims

1. To improve the delegates understanding of endodontic treatment and to enable them to undertake root canal therapy on permanent teeth, safely, fast and efficiently, maximising successful treatment.

2. Modern preparation and irrigation techniques will be demonstrated including an introduction to new concepts of Rotary and Reciprocating root canal preparation and 3D obturation with Bioceramic materials.

3. This course will also cover the diagnosis of periradicular disease, the difference between conventional radiography and 3D imaging (CBCT) and how 3D imaging can help on diagnosis and treatment planning.

Objectives

New concepts of rotary and reciprocating nickel titanium root canal preparation and 3D obturation will be covered and the delegates will have the opportunity to carry out this technique in plastic blocks and extracted molar teeth

Learning outcomes

At the end of the course, delegates will have a better understanding of:

1. Assessment, diagnosis and prognosis, and treatment planning using 3D imaging

2. The importance of an adequate access cavity and microbial control

3. The interaction between efficient shaping, cleaning and filling in order to achieve optimal result.
