Lecturer profileMike Harrison carried out his specialist training at Cardiff Dental Hospital and Guy’s Hospital, London. His first thesis was on facial and dental injury prevention by cycle safety helmets, but during his involvement with a hypodontia clinic he developed an interest in clinical genetics. His first Consultant post was at the Eastman Dental Hospital, during which time he also undertook molecular studies into dental anomalies at the Institute of Child Health. He subsequently held senior academic and clinical posts at Guy’s and King’s hospitals, and is currently a Consultant at Guy’s. He was a co-author on the first UK national clinical guideline for the use of general anaesthesia in paediatric dentistry, and is current chair of the Paediatric Dentistry Clinical Effectiveness Committee.
