Lecturer profileJulie qualified from the University of Leeds in 1995 and is a Senior Lecturer and Consultant in Oral Surgery at Edinburgh Dental Institute. She has been on call for Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery for 15 years. Her research interests include skeletal tissue engineering using self-assembling peptides. Julie is co-founder and designer of the ResusPod which provides the complete solution for medical emergency management in primary dental care. Julie delivers regional and local training in medical emergency management and is certified in PILS and ALS.

Julie is so dedicated to the training of medical emergencies that she once self-administered an IM dose of adrenaline into her right thigh, in front of a live audience, to make it real , or it may have been by accident... make up your own mind when you meet her .

Lecturer profileSuzanne gained her BChD (Hons) from the University of Leeds in 2008. She undertook her Vocational Training in North Yorkshire before entering the hospital system. She completed a DF2 post followed by Career Development posts in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Oral Surgery/Oral Medicine before entering her Oral Surgery Registrar training post at the Great Western Hospital, Swindon. She has recently attained her MOral Surg (RCS Eng) and is looking to finish her training post in September 2015. Following this she will be taking up a Clinical Teaching Fellow post at the University of Leeds in Oral Surgery. Her main interest lies in teaching and she completed her PG Cert in Teaching and Learning for Health Professionals (Merit) at the University of Bristol in 2014.

Ian gained the BChD in 2002 and has previously worked in general practice, and as an SHO and Specialty Doctor in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He is a Registrar in Oral Surgery and an ATLS provider. He has interests in education. He can frequently be found covered in mud from trail running, or generally doing outdoorsy things.

Kate qualified in dentistry from the University of Sheffield in 1993 and is a specialist Oral Surgeon. She is Senior Lecturer /Honorary Consultant in Oral Surgery at the Liverpool University Dental Hospital (University of Liverpool).

She is an expert in the management of medical emergencies in dental practice and regularly lectures in national and international conferences. She is a provider of advanced life support and a trainer in medical emergencies for the British Dental Association.

Her research interests are Educational research, human factors research, medical emergencies management and Conscious sedation in dentistry
