Lecturer profileAndy qualified as a dentist from Bristol in 1980. He started his own practice in 1984, a purpose built surgery in Loughborough. This practice was renowned for its innovative use of extended-duties teams. The practice gained ISO 9002 Quality Assurance accreditation in 1994 (one of the first in the UK) and Investors in People accreditation in 1997.

Andy has a Masters Degree in Clinical Education and a Postgraduate Certificate in Mentoring in Dentistry from the Royal College of Surgeons. Andy has taught Quality Management and Clinical Governance programmes for over 2000 GDPs and DCPs in the UK and abroad for Royal Colleges, Universities and Deaneries. He is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Kent, Centre for Professional Practice. In 2010 he started The Dental Business Academy providing a variety of online training and NCFE accredited qualifications for the dental team.

Andy is old enough to have discovered that it is much better to work smarter, not harder and continues his struggle to achieve this.
