The course will provide theoretical knowledge and the practical skills required for the candidates to competently apply topical fluoride to children and adult patients on the prescription from a dentist. There will be two underpinning theory days; 6 hours per day. The sessions will be held 6 weeks apart to allow sufficient time for the candidates to build a portfolio of practical experience and written assignments. There will be a half-day session 2 weeks after the second session. Attendance at the final half day session is required to sign off the clinical work-based log sheets, extended case studies and complete the summative assessment. The candidate will be required to appoint an appropriately trained, GDC registered workplace supervisor who will provide the practical skills training and assessment.
