Aims

To provide participants with an overview of dealing with child patients in dental practice, and how to manage the stress of working in dentistry.

Objectives

By the end of this day participants will have:

  • Explored the determinants of children’s behaviour in dental settings
  • Identified evidence based techniques for modifying the behaviour of children and their carers in the dental setting
  • Developed an action plan for implementing changes to their practice
  • A knowledge of the sources and consequences of stress in dental practice
  • A knowledge of techniques to manage the experience of stress in dental practice
  • Undertaken an assessment of their own levels of stress
  • Devised a personal plan for incorporating this knowledge into their practice.
