Aims
  • To improve knowledge of traumatic dental injuries and their management, in both the primary and permanent dentition
  • To improve knowledge of common medical conditions in children and how they may impact a child’s dental care
  • To discuss and practice treatment planning skills in relation to children with traumatic dental injuries and common medical conditions
Objectives

At the end of the session, participants should feel more confident and comfortable dealing with:

  • Primary tooth trauma – aetiology, diagnosis, treatment. Discussion of relevant clinical guidelines
  • Permanent tooth trauma – hard tissue injuries – aetiology, diagnosis, management (acute and follow-up). Discussion of relevant clinical guidelines
  • Permanent tooth trauma – periodontal ligament injuries – aetiology, diagnosis, management (acute and follow-up). Discussion of relevant clinical guidelines
  • Dental management of the medically compromised child, and to refer as appropriate
