Additional information

Under the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations employers have a legal duty to make suitable and sufficient assessment of risks to the health and safety of employees and all those who may be affected. Employers are obliged to appoint a competent person to assist in meeting this legal requirement.

This course has a test paper which is marked by the CIEH.  The £30 examination fee is part of the delegate fee paid.

Aims
  • The overall aim is for personnel from all levels of the organisation to understand the basic principles of risk assessment so they can contribute to the risk assessment process within their own working environment.
Objectives

Delegates will understand the basic principles of risk assessment so they can contribute to the process within their own working environment. The 3 outcomes are:

  • Appreciation of the main causes of accidents/ill-health & their implications for people at work & how risk assessment links to accident prevention
  • Application of the legal requirements for risk assessment as stated under the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations and identify areas of non-compliance within your own organisation
  • Demonstrate the principles of risk assessment by using a range of methods and record the outcomes
